Dear Alumni, Parents, and Friends:
When Our Lady of Good Counsel opened its new doors January 8, 2007 in Olney Maryland, there was one major part of the facility that was not included in the original construction, namely the auditorium. The Auditorium was taken out of the original design when the cost of construction increased to the point where the entire project was in jeopardy. In an effort to get the school built, several components were designated as alternates. The principal alternates were the chapel, the weight, training, and wrestling rooms, the tennis courts, and the auditorium. Through the added generosity of several benefactors, the chapel, weight room and training room were added back into the plans. It is now time to turn our attention to the Auditorium.
The addition of an Auditorium will add tremendously to our community, being used in a variety of ways that will enhance the academic and extra-curricular life of the school. Today, better than half the student body is involved in the arts and they would benefit greatly by having a venue for concerts and plays. But the entire school will derive benefit from the auditorium. Speech and Debate could host tournaments; it would provide a home for the lecture series we are launching in 2008, as well as a place for class liturgies, assemblies and faculty meetings.
The Good Counsel community has just completed a momentous project with the construction of the beautiful new facility. Some made significant gifts, and continue to make payments on pledges in order to make it possible. The school also has tremendous pressure to grow the Annual Fund in order to continue to meet debt service and keep tuition increases to a minimum. But I still believe we have the ability as a community to also tackle this additional project of raising money for the Auditorium. Please do what you can to help, and keep our efforts in your prayers.
Sincerely,

Arthur Raimo, President
